Jeanette Baumgras is dynamic, creative teacher who has worked at St. Augustine since 2000.  She has many areas of expertise.  Her students’ art projects have been recognized and publicly displayed at Troy’s Library because they have been age appropriate, relevant and beautiful.  Her love of children and children’s literature is evident by the positive way her students react to her in the classroom. Jeanette’s students are excited about learning, and she inspires them to strive for excellence in all areas.  Jeanette has an Associate’s Degree with a concentration in Early Childhood Education.  In her spare time she volunteers at St. Augustine Church in various children’s ministries.  Her love for children and books also motivates her to volunteer at the library of a local elementary school and also mentor middle and high school students in Literary Arts.

Charlene Goshgarian is the school’s director, who also teaches Pre-K.  She has a B. A. in English and Masters courses in Instructional Technology.  Charlene developed and launched the church-owned preschool in1999.  She reaches out to students, parents and teachers in a positive way.  Her teaching style promotes learning through multi-sensory interactive experiences, team building, and sensory activities.  In Pre-K the children start with letter and number recognition.  They progress to letter sounds and chunks of rhyming words.  By the end of the year students are reading easy books because they can recognize about 35 sight words.  They also can recognize double digit numbers and add & subtract numbers 1-10.  Charlene has also served as a Sunday school teacher.  In her spare time she engages in church activities and community service.

Debra St. Cyr has been with the school since 2002.  She is a warm and caring professional with a nurturing teaching style.  Debra has a B.S degree from Michigan State in Early Childhood Education.  As a teacher she focuses on developmentally age appropriate activities that integrate learning with play.  In Miss Debbie’s class children experience a busy time of hands-on learning and play in centers that revolve around the theme of the day.  Students learn basic skills like proper pencil grip or cutting with a scissor, and they always have an art project and academic component as part of their day.  She works individually at each child’s level.  Miss Debbie makes learning fun, and as a result the children in her classes always love coming to school.  For many years Debra has volunteered as a Sunday school and VBS (Vacation Bible School) teacher.
